You Don’t Need to Have Your Life Figured Out to Start Again
You Don’t Need to Have Your Life Figured Out to Start Again There have been several moments in my life when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.I moved to another country without a real plan. I moved to a new city where I barely knew anyone. I’ve accepted opportunities simply because something inside me told me to say yes. Some decisions brought incredible experiences.Others brought lessons I probably could have learned in easier ways. For a long time, I thought becoming the person I wanted to be meant eventually reaching a point where I would finally have everything figured out.Now I think the opposite is true. Sometimes, starting over begins when you admit that you don’t know what’s next. Feeling Lost Can Be a Beginning We usually talk about transformation after it happens. Someone changes careers, moves countries, builds a business, gets healthier, leaves a relationship or completely changes their lifestyle – and then tells the story from the other side.It sounds clean.Real transformation isn’t. Sometimes you’re simultaneously proud of the person you’re becoming and grieving the person you used to be.Sometimes you know your old life doesn’t fit anymore, but you haven’t built the new one yet. That’s where I am.I’m not writing this as someone who has discovered the perfect formula for life. I’m writing it while I’m still figuring things out myself. And that’s exactly why I wanted to start this blog. I Don’t Want My Old Patterns to Build My Future There was a version of me that looked outside herself for many of the things she couldn’t give herself.Validation.Excitement.Confidence.Connection. Over time, I started realizing that some of the things that gave me temporary comfort were taking me further away from the woman I actually wanted to become. Changing that hasn’t meant waking up one morning as a completely different person. It’s been much less glamorous. It’s choosing differently.Learning to enjoy my own company.Taking care of my body.Becoming more intentional about where my energy goes.Reading.Practicing yoga.Questioning beliefs I’ve carried for years.Learning to sit with uncomfortable emotions instead of immediately trying to escape them. And accepting that growth can be incredibly uncomfortable. Starting Over Doesn’t Mean Starting From Zero This is something I’m beginning to understand. When you start again, you don’t lose everything that came before. You bring the lessons with you.Every city I’ve lived in, every person I’ve met, every job I’ve had, every uncomfortable conversation and every decision that didn’t work out has taught me something about people — and about myself. And sometimes, starting again means going somewhere unfamiliar enough to finally hear yourself. I went to India looking for my highest self, but what I found there was something entirely different.
